We have successfully represented both individuals and corporate clients in litigation matters in courts throughout New York State (including Supreme and Surrogate’s courts) and in the federal courts throughout the United States. We have also successfully participated in arbitrations (including FINRA arbitrations) and mediations. In addition, we have represented clients before government agencies in employment matters.
Because we are a small firm, we are not either a plaintiff or defendant or employer or employee oriented firm. As such, we have a unique perspective on our adversaries’ positions and can use this unique perspective to our clients’ advantage. Firms which specialize in either plaintiff or defense work lack such a perspective.
Our practice includes representation of clients involved in disputes over goods sold and delivered; disputes over services rendered; disputes over management of enterprises; disputes over joint venture agreements; disputes by investors against corporations; disputes over intellectual property; and breach of contract disputes in general.
Our art litigation cases involve disputes surrounding such renowned artists as Modigliani, Malevich, Basquiat, and Lichenstein.
In this area, we have represented both majority and minority shareholders, partners, limited partners and limited liability partners on issues involving the governance of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies; disputes between partners and shareholders over distributions; disputes over the dissolution of corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies.
Here, we have represented landlords, tenants, and subtenants in disputes over leases, interpretation of clauses in leases and breaches thereof.
In this area, we have represented parties in matters where there are allegations that shareholders, directors, and/or officers in corporations or partnerships have breached their fiduciary duties; and in matters where there are allegations of dominance by a majority shareholder, director, and/or officer over the management of a corporation so that the corporate shield no longer applies.
We have represented both employers and employees in disputes over terminations; allegations of discrimination based upon age, sex, and disability; and allegations involving breaches of confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.
We have represented creditors’ interests in proceedings in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
In addition to our trial-level practice, we have also handled numerous matters before the New York Appellate Division, New York Court of Appeals, as well as federal appeals courts in New York, New Jersey, and other jurisdictions. Typically, these proceedings pertain to the areas of law listed above.
